- Embed this noticeI think video games were far more creative when hardware was far simpler. There are a lot of early 80s arcade games that are interesting to say the least. And even well known ones, like tempest, would not be created today. Everything went to shit when the CPS1 came out. While there were some good titles on it, e.g. SF2, and it's progeny and competitor systems, e.g. neogeo, which had metal slug, the games were very cookie cutter to say the least, and often continued to be so on the home systems that took over the arcade market.
