Originally it just followed the logic of “if you could be attracted to one sex or both sexes, it is also possible to be attracted to neither.” It’s really not a big leap in my opinion. Personally I have no first hand framework for what physical arousal or attraction to another person feels like. So most people are inclined to think I have a medical problem. And that’s fine so long as I’m not being carted off to some facility lol.
