I agree with you, but I think the question authoritarian communists are trying to answer with police and prisons is an interesting one. How do you prevent counterrevolution? Typically, anarchists would answer that you don't, that revolution is permanent, but then you just end up with non revolutionary territories encouraging civil war inside revolutionary ones. Authoritarian communists want a coercive apparatus to crush dissent while the revolution concretizes its gains, which to me seems cynical, but is a response to a real problem. I wonder what you think of that?
