Ticks will disappear. Their shit is one of the highest quality fetilizers in existence and they produce an edible high quality protein from eating the bugs and other random shit.

They can and will eat their own eggs if broken (as non-fert they are basically literally just food or a waste product to them) shell and all.

I'd recommend one of the noble breeds. The Sussex, the Australorp, or the Rhode Island Red. The royal breed being Bresse.

They'll need to be guarded a lot during their formative stages because sky predators will aggressively hunt them down. If you so much as look away a hawk might take a chick.
