My personal faves for iPhone at moment would be Toot! or Ice Cubes, but all the apps are so different that it's a matter of taste. A lot of people prefer Ivory or Mona or other apps.

Metatext is good but unfortunately it's no longer maintained as the lead dev had to take a break for health reasons. There's a community version called Feditext currently being tested, but it's not ready yet.
