- Embed this notice@Zealist Onions and potatoes are really hard to start from seeds, so don't feel bad if yours aren't working. For potatoes, you can buy some from the store, wash them, cut them up into 2-4 pieces each (making sure each piece has an eye), and grow that way...Then, when harvesting, save a few for the next crop.
Other tubers like beets, radishes, and carrots tend to do better from seed.
Also don't forget the herbs if you don't have some growing already! Rosemary and thyme are excellent with vegetables, though I've had trouble keeping rosemary alive, probably due to overwatering.
