AI can definitely be used to perpetrate scams, but the concept of AI is certainly not a scam.

I've used Darknet and a spare PC with an old GPU to make a detector for if my grandma (who has dementia) wanders outside at night. It's already saved her from wandering off more than once, so I think AI certainly has its place! But I don't like what a lot of people are doing with it.
