The first piece of real WW2 paraphernalia that I owned was an "Oak Leaf" camo smock like this one when I was ~20. I still maintain that it is a fantastic camo to this day, in Europe particularly. It even works well here in California! It's very versatile for an early camo. iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/30095611

Smock, M1940 lightweight reversible camouflage (oakleaf blurred variant): Waffen SS
smockloose-fit lightweight camouflage oversmock made of water-repellent duck material. The garment is reversible, showing spring/summer burred edge pattern colouring on one side and a similar pattern but autumn/winter shades to the other. The cuffs are elasticated as is the lower waist, and the rounded neck is secured by laced eyelets.
