He remains a sincere leftist (of the "anti-terf" variety, it appears). He believes both (lesbians and trans) are real identities of the sort that should be actionable categories in the law.
I think it's batshit, but these are the kinds of arguments that are bound to arise when subjective feelings alone demand objective recognition: jurisprudence as an arbitrary branch of politics.
