If not then how is it indoctrinating to reach children that gay people exist, it's most likely they already know. Gay and trans people have existed before the past century and it's documented. Even if children don't learn what being gay or trans is they will most likely encounter historical figures that were themselves, if not in the media or in their own social circles.
