Most software nowadays runs on most platforms and if you have a decent gamin laptop already, why even bother with a mac if the software you'll use is going to be the same on either platform? If you want a macbook and can afford one easily, why the hell not? Otherwise, don't. The only time I'd advise an apple device, is when we're talking tablets. YMMV. Focus on software first.
Adding: I would always choose multi platform software over software that runs on only one platform. Like if you have software that only runs on mac, and you need to replace a mac device, it can be expensive to nearly impossible, depending on your financial situation at that particular time. Whereas a windows/linux device can be easily had at 200/300€$£ if necessary. And the software might not run super smooth on a cheap device, but at least it runs and you can make money. Something to keep in mind I think.
