We already have a tutorial, and experience has shown that many people skip it. If we keep adding more, the chances of them being skipped altogether are higher.

What I suggested doesn't "disable" MFM animations, it just prompts you to click play to view them. Then you'd be able to go to settings and change that to autoplay, if you prefer it that way - or to completely disable it. It would be enabled by default, just not animated without an action from the user.
