Paul Cantrell@seachanger Yes, I definitely think all that stuff is scratching some deep-seated human itch. And — upping the ante even further — the destructiveness of it, the way people delight in showering riches on public figures while destroying their interior lives and stripping them of their humanity, the way people get obsessed with reality TV whose central features are humiliation and cruelty…all of that is not quite as far from ritual human sacrifice as we’d like to think.
