The interoperatibility is a solved problem, for now. But this will probably set of a discussion if Mastodon should also include support for emoji responses. I'm sure some would like it, but there is also a group of people who prefer a calmer interface, where just 'favoriting' is enough.

For emoji responses specifically, I'm sure that this is something that will be figured out.
