BITCOINHACKERS.ORG?</p><p>The Mastodon instance bitcoinhackers.org has shut down for good.</p><p>NVK cites many reasons for this. He doesn't believe Mastodon is "truly" decentralized, that users don't own their identities.</p><p>But what truly comes down to it is many instances were blocking them, keeping the crypto crowd out. </p><p>Right now, Bitcoin.org is pushing Nostr -- hoping others will follow them. The instance runner is just a benevolent dictator. I'm not interested in being a dictator and lost interterest. Instances are also blanket banning other instances. This means the whole ActivityPub universe was just a patchy-verse, and able to block Bitcoiners out. But, it's biggest offense is that Users don't own their identity &amp; data. Mastodon is not decentralized, it's just someone else's computer.Time to evolve ?; Nostr is the much needed protocol upgrade.Nostr is a simple, open protocol that enables truly censorship-resistant and global value-for-value publishing on the web.
