BSD 4-clause turns software proprietary if you do something as trivial as combining code from just a few pieces of software under the same license (with different advertising clauses).
Really, all BSD licenses are more restrictive than the GPLv3, as they demand acceptance just to use the software.
Meanwhile, the GPLv3 doesn't require you to accept it just to use the software.
I seem to have come across quite a few people who recommend using a BSD license, but also have utter contempt for the users freedom?
