I can get an Apple II and easily repair and boot it. I can modify it easily and make it appear on modern networks and do things beyond it's creators intention.

I can get _any_ tablet device and put it in the landfill because doing anything beyond original creators intention isn't easily doable or people just don't care.

Especially anything Amazon or Apple has dumped on us. While there are projects like lineage, they are quite limited in supported hardware.
