It's too dangerous to abdicate control of transport to governments and publicly appointed monopolies. Therefore the common man must own his own means of transport and bikes aren't going to cut it for every kind of journey.

If you'd like to argue motor vehicles should be smaller and lighter I'd be inclined to agree, but nonetheless they should exist and be privately owned.
