FO4 was weirdly patchy in terms of writing, the lovecraft family that lived forever was fuckin weird and out of place and the time capsule was hilarious and the vaults were amusingly evil as well, especially the fucking rehab vault

though yes it was very forgettable, except for the moment you have to choose which factions to betray — the game doesn’t handhold you to that, and you’ll inevitably feel like shit when you first pull the trigger on people who trusted you
