- Embed this notice@alex One of the reasons I can always sympathize with the free software people is how retarded a lot of copyright laws become when they get awkwardly shoved into biology. It might have made some sort of sense when identifying genes took a large amount of research, enzymes, and hoping restriction enzyme sites existed around the bits of DNA that mattered, but there's something fundamentally retarded about being able to "own" genes that have existed for hundreds of millions of years because you copied it to a plasmid and rang up the patent office first or you bombarded some genes with a mutagen until it did something different and claimed it's somehow "your invention".
I have very little hope for politics, but I will vote for literally anyone that will promise to trust bust food monopolies and unfuck IP laws about biology.
