@dave For sure, but at least some people had to be considering their duty, the moral ramifications, etc. I imagine it went like this:

“You know what they say about me, it’s all wrong. I provide a product that people want. It is actually the government that’s doing the wrong thing.”

Maybe he didn’t even have to say it. Maybe they just rationalized it in their own heads.
