A “web3” company acquiring a Mastodon instance also makes a little sense to me:
There‘s already web3-native technologies out there like Lens Protocol and Farcaster. One could’ve added ActivityPub capabilities from there. It’s a protocol after all
Buying a Mastodon instance and then trying to fork/add web3 capabilities from there (making it less as compatible with the rest of Mastodon instances (if not already defederated)) feels out of place imo
