It looks like a dollop of bikeshedding on whines about platform branding and (follow me on this, it's gonna sound weird) closed open-source ecosystems due to the fact ActivityPub's standards move slow as molasses in a time where we need movement to get away from the hellpit that is twitter and at the same time satisfy the left with @Gargron's special piece of hugbox shit.
