@dansup I appreciate you for thinking of ways to help monetize fediverse services.

I'd definitely prefer that anyone can still provide it instead of a solution that depends on an organization. Maybe where you send your backups could be a separate choice from the instance and there could be multiple providers if one doesn't want to tie it to the instance itself.

Also makes me think of Firefox Sync and how that's available to be self-hosted instead of Mozilla.
