@SuperDicq if they genuinely think that they're going to make the money back on tourism, sales tax, and like hotel fees.
They are genuinely stupid, but what I think is more likely is that some palms are being greased and somebody's getting money under the table given FIFA's track record.
Like local businesses can't even sell ad space to companies who are in competition with any of the primary ad holders for the games themselves. There's very little locals can make money on this game considering how much FIFA is making on broadcast revenue.
And all I'm saying is that if FIFA wants to write me a check for $100,000, I'll completely shut up. Or at least give me a job, because dam 🦫 I'm three months away from being homeless and the world's watching a game about kicking a ball.
