i seemed to have that conversation with every parent of a kid i taught music.

pay a bit more and get a decent used instrument. your kid will have a better instrument and better experience. you'll get what you paid for back out of it if you sell, which you won't with a crap new instrument. the next parent can benefit the same way.

disposable crap that can't be repaired is just evil waste of resources.
