    @aral you start out by assuming good intentions the first time you interact with someone. If subsequent interactions repeatedly demonstrate that they don't you change your opinions accordingly.

    I was just talking about this in another thread actually, I do believe the number of genuine arseholes out there are a very small minority but the way we structure our societies tends to mean they rise to positions of power https://social.coop/@afewbugs/116628620785889118

      @Drub@woof.group @earthworm@kolektiva.social I think only a tiny percentage of people are irredeemably selfish and greedy, most people have the potential to behave well or badly but are forced in one direction or other by the circumstances they find themselves in. But we seem to have somehow created a societal system where that tiny percentage have most of the decision making power and they create circumstances that force the majority to behave in the worse way
