    An American chestnut tree over 10 years old is quite an achievement. My Grand Uncle Luther tried for years on his own to grow and improve them.

    One of our local hardware stores now offers young Chestnut trees each Spring.

    And one of my cousins here in NEPA has a couple adult Chestnuts (20+ yrs old) in their yard.
