It's not that murder is acceptable, but that the murder of certain people based on what they've said and done is accepted by a large group of people sympathetic to the cause.
It's also worth noting that less harmful methods are also acceptable, but far more difficult. We can even say, we wish it hadn't come to that, but oh well.
