You get outside the big counties, you know, property tax is normal levels. Food's not bad because it's from up the road rather than shipped across the country, cost of living is only really atrocious in SF. The issue is the real estate developers taking over the normal cities, like I was always have a step from moving to San Diego; last election in LA, the two candidates were "evil real estate developer" and "retarded evil real estate developer but she was diverse" and the latter won.
