Go for wifi backhaul. It'll be easier.
When you punch ethernet through an external wall you start having to worry about transients from lightning getting into shit. There are "surge protectors" you can use, but they have to go to a grounding rod, and then you've gotta bond that to house ground.
You also need to use shielded CMX ethernet cable. Regular riser or plenum cable won't last outdoors. It's hard to find CMX cable in quantities less than 500 feet and you've gotta terminate it.
