The absence of condemnation at this hour by the European Commission is appalling.
It will continue to weaken Europe on the international stage and undermine its moral credibility in the eyes of the world.
Already guilty of double standards for failing to act in the face of crimes committed in Gaza, the Commission now opts for a minimal response, even as the sovereignty of a state is violated by force.
This stance by the von der Leyen Commission is not neutral.
It now makes illegality appear acceptable.
It reveals a diplomacy not grounded in principles, but driven by preferences and allegiances.
It confirms a shift toward a world in which Europe accepts the retreat of the rule and the imposition of the law of the strongest—whatever the consequences.
