@deprecated_ii why is the "hole" in the southern hemisphere and not in the northern hemisphere (where most of the CFCs are released). Jet streams don't cross the equator.

(The answer is that the process that creates Ozone requires temperatures above -70 C, and the Antarctic goes below that temperature for months whereas the Arctic might go below that temperature for a week or so.)
