I agree with your utopia, hell, I'm kinda feeling uncomfortable with the growing feeling that the Fediverse is a monoculture (though if I'm gonna make my blog participate in it, I may just pay someone to run Mastodon for my domain) but if I'm gonna put coding effort into my blog, I wanna see a path that doesn't just try what's already failed, only harder.
