M Estévez#japodon Renho, a well-known opposition politician in #Japan opened an account in Mastodon. My Japanese Mastodon account TL was filled with chatter about its implications for the instance admin. Renho is a woman whose father is Taiwanese. She has the double whammy of being female and not “purely Japanese” and has long been the target of conservative trolls. Some instance admins worry that they will have to monitor trolls, and others worry about potential legal consequences for themselves.
