@thomasfuchs they do it mainly for making extra money on the backend via data collection and/or serving ads, but secondarily because people expect them to have streaming capabilities.

I hate it because it means they take longer to turn on and off, and they can crash or have other weird behavior.

I've never connected my current TV to the internet.
