- They've got 50 years of practice at selectively listening to the Pope since Vatican 2 and the Latin Mass controversy.
- Many are de facto evangelical white nationalists with legacy cultural ties to a catholic parish, so the theological contradiction of ignoring the Pope doesn't trouble them.
