But I did learn a little here. The overlooked job crucial to preserving Scotland's heritage SINCE 2021, Rachael Muir has been business archives surveying officer for Scotland, based at the Ballast Trust in Johnstone and supported by the National Records of Scotland.
You might not have heard of the surveying officer, but it is a role integral to the preservation of the nation’s heritage.
Established in 1977, the business archives surveying officer for Scotland is a unique role in the UK. It provides direct support to businesses for their historical records, as well as a reactive service for records at risk cases.
Across five decades, successive surveying officers have contacted thousands of businesses and surveyed the records of more than 700 to help owners understand their significance and value, while also securing the deposit of many collections with university, local, and national archives.</a></label><br><a href="https://media.mastodon.scot/media_attachments/files/115/251/939/350/944/818/original/fe1abcb292e689be.png" rel="external">https://media.mastodon.scot/media_attachments/files/115/251/939/350/944/818/original/fe1abcb292e689be.png</a></li></ol></footer></blockquote>
