Dr. Quadragon ❌@novenary To be honest, for all of his impact, all of JRR's talk of "no trace of the real world" always seemed like a bunch of hokeypokey to me. There are a LOT of real-world concepts in his and other fantasy authors' work. You can't just make something out of nothing and still expect it to make sense to the reader.
