Professor Jiang argues that young people don't rebel because they are wired to respect and obey parents.
I don't entirely agree with his big picture analysis, but I think he hits the notes of how the public will internalize these problems.
But the 'rational optimists' will tell you that things just always get better. Humanity will always continue in some form, but the majority of the surviving descendants will be molded by the dominant regimes.
