When I first started at the FSF we used a bastardized version of Fedora Core 2 or 3 I think for quite a while before finally getting something else Debian based but I ran Fedora on my ThinkPad for around 2 years from 2009-2011 before switching to Ubuntu until 2021. I really liked how Red Hat 9 looked with the Bluecurve thing but I understand people working on it didn’t like that.
