@waitworry that makes sense. I never liked the old Disney princess movies because they bored me, but I think the modern ones are also lacking something. It all feels too "meta" to me, like they're self aware of being a Disney movie and so it all feels like familiar tropes are just being subverted or done ironically and not like anything genuinely new is being done...

Nala and Kiara are probably the best and most kickass princesses, even if they aren't official ones since they're lions...
