IMO, sarcasm is a mechanic to grow over the sad depressing feeling, that the expression of facts/opinions build up in the first place.

It's a coping mechanism while metaphorically painting a black picture in the hope to find lighter speckles that can be enlarged. Or at least to find a time spot of solace.

Sadly this PoV can also be attached to pictures that aren't fully black but to every image and that might pose a problem in itself
