I got the notice, too. I bought mine something like ten years ago. I don't know what happened to it. Maybe I gave it away. I don't remember.
I get your point, but the fact that they're willing to provide replacements for ten year old consumer electronics at all is a mark in their favor, even if you do have to jump through a hoop or two.
