therapy can be great, but it takes time, and it can make things feel worse before they feel better, as things that were dormant are brought under light so that they can be analyzed and dealt with.
my therapist of many years even suggested at times that I consult with a psychiatrist to get an antidepressant prescription so that I could face and deal with some of the stuff that was troubling me.
so don't lose hope. it can take a while. it's not anyone's fault; certainly not yours.
