- Embed this noticeI'm glad you decided to stop trying to control what other people think. I agree with your sentiment that sending unfavored speech underground ultimately makes the problem bigger, and makes properly and effectively addressing the problem harder. Communities that are happy to represent their beliefs to the uninitiated, opponents, and friends alike are the ones that are the most resilient in the free market of ideas. When large tracts of thought are discarded, eventually people react in shock when a wrongthink opinion is expressed in their presence, they get irrationally angry, and have no response other than to get emotional and/or hostile. Our culture has ebbs and flows, and more often than not both sides have some very valid gripes, our differences typically stem from priorities and assumptions.
