@Suiseiseki Your claims about the Pinephone modem firmware are extraordinarily false. The extra CPU it has running a closed source and outdated fork of Android does not exist on a normal, sane modem. Replacing that is not replacing a component which exists on normal devices. That is not the baseband's userspace, it's an extra OS for running drivers/services made for Linux/Android so that a Windows OS can use the modem without having drivers/services written for it. It does not normally exist.
