All proprietary software must be eradicated, not just Microsoft's. Sure, you will recommend a free distribution of the GNU operating system (https://www.gnu.org/distros/free-distros.html) and not a proprietary kernel. However, on some computers, you may encounter limitations such as lack of Wi-Fi or 3D acceleration without executing proprietary software. Ultimately, the decision lies with the user: to choose to replace problematic peripherals with freedom-respecting ones, accept compromises for the sake of their freedom or surrender that freedom by installing proprietary software to ensure the functionality of handcuffed hardware.
