@lproven @theregister In the first place, the support team for x.org and the support team for Wayland are the same guys. It is just one team! In the second place, while there are implementation differences and huge code differences, the basic protocol is the same. They even use exactly the same low-level drivers. In writing Wayland they just want to do it in a more correct and simplified and discreet way that is more secure and easier to maintain. Make no mistake, they are currently maintaining both. It's not like either one is going to fall behind anytime soon.
