   @aral @me @welshpixie If i was the CIA or a similar organisation (for example run by a lunatic billionaire), i would stealthy push things like #Fediblock to purposely fragment and weaken the fediverse. I would strive to control both ends of the conversation through sockpuppets , controlled Opposition etc. It's not hard or expensive to do. And yet the conversation here is all about "emotional safety" etc. which is important but arguably less than mass surveillance and raw power politics.

     @aral @me @welshpixie No, I don't think it's the new witch-hunt. But it seems like plenty of fascists and bigots still exist in the fediverse. I'm not saying anyone needs to change their drapes, but I do think they should be open to making changes to create a safe and inclusive space for everyone. Why do you think it's not necessary to make any changes? We need to be open to hearing different perspectives in order to learn and grow. Do you think that's something we should strive for?

     @me @welshpixie @lunaleon No, it’s not the new witch-hunt, it’s what has kept parts of the fediverse free of fascists and bigots for the better part of six years. (The parts that I, for one, want to be involved with.) I’d recommend learning a bit about the culture of a place and why certain things are the way they are first instead of engaging in the online equivalent of entering someone’s house and immediately demanding that they change the drapes.
